On 2 July 2023, a hardline royalist group known as the Citizens' Network to Protect the Monarchy gathered outside the headquarters of the Move Forward Party to protest a suggestion by one of its MPs to change the National Day from King Bhumibol's birthday to 24 June, the anniversary of the 1932 democratic revolution. Verbal altercation soon broke out between the activists and Move Forward supporters. During the rally, a reporter for Khaosod news agency asked the main organizer whether he thinks the rally risks causing confrontation, the man and other activists approached the reporter in a threatening manner and asked him if he had any "problem." The group went on to berate the journalist over his question for some time, though no violence was reported.
