Two online media outlets threatened with of legal action after reporting on land dispute
Description
In October, Pursat Province Department of the Environment warned of legal action against two online media organizations in the province, UMA TV Online News and the Sleuk Rirth Institute.
The Department reported them to the Ministry of Information, in an attempt to force the media outlets to remove unfavorable content. The Department threatened to demand the two organizations pay 100 million riel each if the content were not removed. The Department further alleged that the two organizations had published fake news and had incited others to clear forest land.
