Three journalists in Ternate, North Maluku were forced to delete photo documentation while covering the peaceful campaign declaration in the yard of the North Maluku KPU office, Sofifi, Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

That day, Antara photojournalist, Andri Saputra, RTV journalist Muhammad S Haliun were present to cover the peaceful campaign declaration, but there was an argument and chaos between North Maluku KPU staff. The journalists immediately took pictures and videos using their cellphones and cameras. KPU officers then prohibited journalists from taking pictures.

Andri and Muhammad Haliun were then called by KPU security officers to enter one of the rooms. The officers forced the two journalists to delete the photos and videos that had been taken. If the photos were not deleted, they would be prohibited from covering KPU activities.
