Three journalists in Jember experienced intimidation at the police headquarters on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
Three journalists from Tribunjatim.com, Suaraindonesia.com and Tugujatim.com were present at the police headquarters on Tuesday afternoon.
They wanted to confirm the news of the examination of 50 local village heads at Resort police headquarters, which turned out to be a hoax.
Two journalists arrived at the police headquarters first. Journalists from Tribunjatim.com took the initiative to photograph the atmosphere in the location using their phones.
Then two police officers approached them and asked to check the journalist's phones. The police also deleted the photos on the pretext of taking photos without permission.
Journalists from Suaraindonesia.com then arrived at the Jember Police Criminal Investigation Unit lobby with the same purpose.
The three were finally interrogated by several police officers at the Jember Police Headquarters.
After the phones were checked and the photos were deleted, three journalists were taken into the Jember Police Criminal Investigation Unit'sroom. They asked journalist to put all their phones in a special storage area.
The three journalists were then interrogated by six police officers including the Head of the Jember Police Criminal Investigation Unit. They were also asked questions for 30 minutes.
