Republika journalist kicked by security forces for covering President at market
Republika journalist Riga Nurul Iman was assaulted while covering the arrival of President Joko Widodo at the Parungkuda modern market in Sukabumi Regency. The president, accompanied by several officials, arrived at the market and started distributing food packages, t-shirts, and business capital assistance to traders. As residents gathered around, Paspampres, the president's security team, created a barricade to ensure safety. While trying to take photos of President Jokowi, Riga fell and felt his left leg being kicked by a Paspampres member. The kick made it difficult for him to walk. Riga identified the person who kicked him as someone wearing a batik shirt and approximately 170 cm tall. Other Paspampres members helped Riga leave the market, and he sought assistance from other journalists outside. Due to the severe pain in his right leg, Riga requested to be taken to a specialist fracture clinic in Sukabumi city.
