A report titled "Journalist Terrorized into Deleting News About Batam Blackout," published on liputan6.com, has been removed by the Liputan6 editorial team without any clear explanation.
The link to the report "https://www.liputan6.com/regional/read/8313150/wartawan-diteror-untuk-h…" no longer displays the original article, which was published on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
Ajang Nurdin, journalist who authored the report, based it on a press release issued by Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) Batam.
The press release stated that several journalists in Batam had faced intimidation following the publication of reports regarding a total blackout in Batam, Riau Islands.
The intimidation involved demands to delete coverage of the Batam blackout.
The coverage had published on the media BatamNow.com and had been posted on the social media account @batambergerak.
Ajang had shared a link to the report via a whatsapp status update. Then, fellow journalists informed him that the report was no longer accessible.
Ajang sought clarification from the editorial office in Jakarta regarding the disappearance of the report.
"This is company policy, and it is an internal company matter," was the explanation given by editorial, on the morning of Thursday, October 15, 2026.
