National Army Officers Intimidate Journalist After Illegal Fuel Report in Palu City

A journalist from Metroluwuk.net experienced intimidation and threats while reporting on allegations of extortion related to the distribution of illegal fuel at the Kilo 5 gas station in Palu City on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

That day, the journalist, assigned to Banggai Regency, Luwuk, conducted interviews and gathered information about illegal levies. The report was published in the afternoon at 4:30 PM WITA.

Following the publication, the journalist was followed by two National Army officers to Luwuk Shopping Mall. At the mall, the officers confronted the journalist loudly, demanding that the news be deleted.

Later, at around 5:00 PM WITA, one of the officers called the journalist, accusing them of blackmail and threatening them. The journalist responded, asking not to be threatened, after which the call was abruptly ended by the officer.
