Description
8 August, local telecommunications companies in Malaysia blocked access to the news website UtusanTV due to a violation of national laws, according to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Shortly after, Malaysia's Communications and Digital Minister, Fahmi Fadzil, denied giving any instruction to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to block individuals or platforms. Fahmi emphasised his belief in media freedom and stated that MCMC's actions might stem from public complaints or police reports, while Utusan Malaysia distanced itself from UtusanTV.
