Local Government Officials file cyber-libel cases against journalists

Description

On September 15, MQMSI released a press statement over 17 counts of cyber-libel against one of their members. Edarlito Doremon Jr. of MQMSI, along with Arnel Bello of Masbate Spirit FM Station, is currently facing charges on the Violation of Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 filed last Aug. 21 and 29 by Masbate Local Officials.

The cyber-libel cases came after Doremon, along with fellow MQMSI members filed graft and plunder cases before the Ombudsman last Aug. 21 against Masbate Governor Antonio Kho and other provincial officers and private contractors for a string of ghost infrastructure projects undertaken last 2022.
