Journalist involved in shooting incident after receiving an online threat
Description
On April 21, 2025, Gonzales reported on air about the shooting incident that transpired in Brgy. Budac, Tayum, Abra, between armed men which resulted to the death of one individual and arrest of one male person involved in the incident. On the same date around 10:11 PM, Gonzales received a chat message from Mayor JB Bernos through messenger through an account named JB Bernos which said: "TARANTADO KA ROMY, VERY IRRESPONSIBLE (You bastard Romy, very irresponsible)."
He then received a video call where Bernos repeatedly uttered: "PUTANG INA MO MR. GONZALES BABALIKAN KITA PUTANG INA KA (You son of a bitch, Mr. Gonzales, I’ll come back for you, son of a bitch.) The video call lasted for two minutes and four seconds.
