Female journalist surveilled during Labor Day Protest

Description

Pampanga-based journalist Joann Manabat experienced surveillance and harassment on May 1, while covering the Labor Day protest at San Nicholas Public Market in Angeles City.
According to Manabat, at 10:50 p.m. on that day, she received three photos taken of her from a certain Jero Haiden Tenorio via Facebook Messenger. Tenorio, who introduced himself as someone from the military, insisted on ‘getting to know’ Manabat and even offered his assistance in exchange of “scoops.” Manabat said that she was bothered by the proximity of the person who took her photos as well as how the said person managed to find her on Facebook when she did not remember giving out her information to any of the people she had spoken with during the protest.
