A certain vlogger claimed that GMA broadcaster Mariz Umali has referred to Former Executive Secretary Medialdea as 'matanda (old)' while he was on a stretcher in the Hague during former Rodrigo Duterte's trial at the ICC.
Umali refuted the vlogger's claim and said that: “What I actually said was, “Tingnan mo yung ‘mata niya’ (Medialdea), nakabukas siya nung una pero nung nakita niya ako, pinikit (Look at his eyes. It was open before, but he closed it upon seeing me)." Because of the vlogger's comment, supporters of Duterte have attacked Umali on her personal social media accounts.
Zen Hernandez was also accused by Duterte supporters- seen in the vicinity of her report in The Hague- of intending to misrepresent them. A video maligning her credibility circulated on social media, along with sexist remarks and baseless claims.
Lastly, after posting a photo with Philippine Ambassador Ed Malaya at the Philippine Embassy in the Netherlands, Gretchen Ho was quickly targeted online, with commenters accusing her of being 'biased.' Three days later, she clapped back- not with anger, but with wit- by correcting their spelling in a tweet.
