The Bima City Election Supervisory Agency summoned three media outlets in West Nusa Tenggara on October 10, 2024.
The summons was related to news reporting quoting a statement by the Head of Public Works at the Bima City PUPR Service.
The statement was published by a number of media outlets. One of them was titled "Aji Rum's Work Results, Bima City Receives IDR 12.5 Billion Budget for Clean Water Management".
The news was considered to benefit Rum as a candidate for Mayor of Bima. The right to reply and the right to correct have been exercised, because the news was considered detrimental to the Head of Public Works as a source.
The journalists refused the summons for clarification, because it was not in accordance with the mechanism of the Press Law.
The Sumbawa Regency Bawaslu also summoned journalists to clarify news regarding one of the Sumbawa Regent candidates, A. Rafik.
Before the PDIP recommendation to nominate a candidate was issued, Rafik was a state civil servant and was still serving as Head of the Sumbawa Regency Library Service.
