Description
On 11 May 2023, the Election Commission of Thailand released a statement accusing Nation TV director and a transparency activist from iLaw of spreading false information against the commission through their discussion on a TV talk show. In the program, the pair discussed the possibility that the Election Commission might be subject to political favoritism because of its close ties to PM Prayut Chan-o-cha and his military junta that ruled Thailand from 2014 to 2019. The commission rejected the allegation and warned that their remarks may be prosecutable under the Computer Crime Acts, which bans dissemination of “false information” on the internet.
