The Konde.co website received a digital attack on Monday, October 24, 2022, after reporting a rape that occurred at the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises.
The report wrote that the perpetrator of the rapist was the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises. After this case was revealed, instead of following the law, the victim was forced to marry one of the perpetrators. The marriage, which lasted only a short time, was apparently carried out to free the perpetrator from prison. This news then spread on Twitter and other social media.
On Monday, at 16.31 PM, the Konde.co website could not be accessed. The Konde.co IT team then traced that the Konde.co site had been attacked with the Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) technique, which is a cyber attack by sending massive fake traffic to a system. As a result the Konde.co server is down.
This is the second digital attack that has occurred against Konde.co in relation to the reporting of cases of sexual violence in the media. The first case happened to Konde.co in May 2020. Konde's Twitter was hacked after publishing a report on a sexual assault case. As a result of this incident, Konde.co was no longer able to access its Twitter account and was forced to create a new Twitter account.
