Description

Journalist for Tribun Sorong were attacked while reporting in Sorong City, Southwest Papua on Tuesday, July 9 2024.

Safwan and several journalists will cover information regarding a member of the Indonesian national army who is suspected of having died unnaturally at the Sorong naval headquarters. The journalists had previously announced their arrival at the location.

But there was no permit to enter that location yet, until journalists decided to go to the navy headquarters to coverage and find accurate information.

At around 11 AM, one of the officers approached several journalists on Jalan Bubara, and asked where the journalists were at that location. The journalists answered that they would report at that location.

A few moments later, other officer met the journalists and forced to check Safwan's handphone. He also made threats to Safwan. After that, he returned the handphone. The officer also expelled journalists from Jalan Bubara, Sorong City.

However, the journalists did not accept being thrown out so rudely, that they had an argument with the officer. The national army then said he would arrest the journalist if they are still at that location.
