Journalist Expelled with Machetes

Description

Journalist in Luwuk, Central Sulawesi, was attacked while covering on a coconut plantation, in Tobelombang village, Nuhon District, Banggai Regency on January 16 2024.

On that Tuesday, Erwin Nayoan was assigned to cover and take photo documentation on the plantation. The plantation belong to farmer initial LL as allegedly his garden taken over by a local farmer named Yeni Lahasima. LL then asked local media in Luwuk to document Yeni Lahasima's illegal activities of harvesting coconuts, so that they could be used it as evidence in court.

However, when journalist arrived at the plantation location, Yeni Lahasima chased Erwin away while take out his machete. "Come out, what's are you doing here," said Yeni Lahasima.
The act of expulsion and threats by machete against journalist has reported to the local police.
