Covering the Trial, Journalists Asked to Delete Photos

Description

Two journalists in Muna, Southeast Sulawesi experienced intimidation while covering the deliberation session of the regional loss settlement assembly in the hall of the West Muna Regency Regional Secretariat (Setda) office, Southeast Sulawesi, on Thursday 20 June 2024.

After arriving at the West Muna regional secretary's office, the two journalists waited outside the room, because the courtroom was closed. Not long after, the legal staff of the West Muna Regional Secretariat, Ikhvan, came and opened the door to the courtroom. When the courtroom door opened, the two journalists rushed to their feet and took photos.

The staff then asked the two journalists to delete the photo because the trial was closed. The two journalists refused, and explained that if they did not want the photo to be published, they would not publish the photo in their respective media.

The staff then said, "Like a Thief," then walked away leaving the two journalists.
