balebengong.id site experienced disruption

Description

The citizen media website balebengong.id experienced an attack on Tuesday, October 24 2023.

That day, at around 6 am, citizen journalists for media based in Denpasar, Bali, will publish their reports. However, the website cannot be accessed.

On the front page and login page, information about the identity of the hacker from India is written. The attack is thought to have occurred early in the morning.

The media's IT team had previously checked the site's security, and there had been no significant disruption.

The IT team then identified the attacker logging in via cpanel. However, it is not yet known how the attack started.

The IT team was able to handle the attack 30 minutes later, by restoring the index. Media can be accessed again.

However, the second attack occurred again at 23.00 WITA, with the same identity of the attacker.

When the IT Team handled the attack, the temporary information on the website's home page could not be accessed, with the statement under maintenance. This condition will persist until Wednesday, September 25 2023.

As a result of the attack, the editorial team was unable to edit and publish the manuscript.

Several residents and citizen journalists also reported that the balebengong.id website could not be accessed.

The motive for the attack cannot be ascertained, but over the last few months, the editorial team at balebengong.id has routinely and consistently published various reports criticizing various policies and development projects in Bali.
